La Chaîne

The Chain was born out of the camaraderie between chain-breakers. After liberating the oppressed and shattering our shackles, we concluded that simply breaking chains was not enough. For what is the point of freedom to a man left alone and unsupported? Instead, the newly freed must find community.

Thus, The Chain was forged by those valiant knights who had been bonded together by the struggle for freedom: each member a link in a chain supporting one another. All that was left to be done was to formalize our commitment to each other and to the rest of the community we had created. To this day, the chain continues to grow as more shackles are broken.

Rather than casting devotion to an unseen god or pantheon, we members of The Chain draw strength from our bonds, born together in the struggle for freedom. Our devotion is community. Our worship is commitment. Our links forge The Chain.

Symbology

The symbol of The Chain calls to mind the continuity of the chain that is the community. It is not one individual link that matters, but the interconnectedness of the community. Our chain is specifically and notably unbroken. We have broken the chains that bind in servitude, and now we reforge a new chain of brotherhood.

Creed:

Liberated from our shackles, we of The Chain have reforged our bonds, for in community, there is strength. While as individuals we may survive, to truly thrive we must rely on others and have others rely on us. Therefore, we have forged a new chain. This chain needs no shackles, for we lift it voluntarily.

In hoisting the chain together, each according to their ability, we lift up the downtrodden and strive for freedom and equality. Together, we fought off the darkness and emerged stronger for it. Together, we harness that power that nearly overtook us. We turn it to our own aims, using it to strengthen and protect our community.

This chain was forged from the bones of this land, refined through the collective efforts and knowledge of its people. As we serve our brothers within The Chain and without, so too do we serve the land that offers us all life and protection. As we forge the chain, so we forge ourselves. Where impurities would threaten, we hammer them from our steel. We steel our spirits and strike away falsehood and self-deception.

We are loyal to our cause and to our people, and it is in that collective loyalty we have faith. Faith that together, and with patience, we can achieve the truly magnificent. Faith that we will be there for one another in times of need. Faith that we will ask for help when we are in need. Faith that we will not stop until all peoples are raised up and treated with respect and justice.

In the chain, we all serve a purpose. We sweat. We bleed. We sacrifice. We give of ourselves, not for personal glory, but in service of the chain. For the good of the community and the land on which we dwell, do we find in ourselves the courage to face darkness, hardship, and adversity. All the while, we have the humility to recognize the limits of our own power. We respect death, but do not fear it, for death does not erase our efforts nor remove our link from the chain. Above all, we hold on to our compassion and remember for whom we fight.

With the chain, as one, all things are possible.
