Alongside the other guilds of [[carcosa|Carcosa]], he defeated the evil and liberated "Eaux Noirs".

Longhiver spent many years in peaceful retirement, dedicating himself to the study and contemplation of the arcane arts within the mighty Black Tower, an ancient and renowned pillar of the port metropolis of Raven’s Eye. Though he has left the mortal plane, the members of the "Lys Noir" keep his memory alive and are frequently visited by his incorporeal spirit. Seth Longhiver’s spirit generally seems to guide the members of the "Lys Noir" with an invisible hand, perceived only by the members of the guild on the battlefield.

Originally a small group of tactical fighters known for their fearsome efficiency, the "Lys Noir" gained great renown throughout the Mundus during the long winter campaign fought to secure Dinant’s freedom. For more than eight hours, braving melting snow and slush, the fighters of the "Lys" and their new combat artillery unit, the Warbird, achieved a crushing and decisive victory over the far more numerous imperial forces. This placed both the guild and Carcosa as worthy sisters among the long established nations.
